Hummus is a savoury, smooth dip that is had along with Pita bread and also with different kinds of chips. This dip or spread comes from the Mediterranean cuisine and is loved by people all across the world for it’s smooth yet tangy taste. It is prepared with just a handful of ingredients and takes less than 10 minutes to cook once you have everything ready with you. The chickpeas used in the recipe are boiled and canned. You can also boil them at home but remember to soak them for at least 5-7 hours before and also remember to save ½ cup of water from the boiled chickpeas. Hummus is also one of the healthiest dips out there and can be added to your salads, burgers, wraps and tacos too!
- 250 gm canned chickpeas
- 2 tablespoon virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- salt as required
- 3 tablespoon tahini
- 4 garlic
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 dash paprika powder
How to make Hummus
- Step 1. Soak and wash the chickpeas. Soak the chickpeas and wash the chickpeas. Add all the ingredients in a blender and add 1/2 cup of chickpea water too.
- Step 2. Blend and serve! Blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute for a smooth texture. Take it out on a plate or in a bowl and garnish with 3-4 drops of olive oil and red paprika powder. Serve with pita chips!
